Qualifications: Paralegal – NSW Justice of the Peace

Tell us about your role?

I’m a paralegal and am involved in all estate work – mostly deceased estates, probate applications, basic wills and powers of attorney.

What do you enjoy about your work?

I have a lot of interaction with clients during an emotional time – spouses of the deceased or their children. I see them from the time someone passes away, through to the end where we’re administering and finalising the estate, so I guide them through from the start to the finish.

What is an example of how you’ve made a real difference for a client?

I had a client who had lost her mother to suicide, so that was a particularly traumatic time. Following the finalisation of the mother’s estate I received a beautiful card that brought me to tears. I often get lovely feedback, boxes of chocolates and thank you cards, so it’s great to know you’re really helping people when they’re often at their lowest.

What do you pride yourself in?

I believe I am good with people. You need to have a welcoming, helpful personality because these people are going through a lot of trauma as it is. I speak in layman’s terms, not legal jargon that they can’t understand.

What do you enjoy about living and working in Albury-Wodonga?

I’m born and bred in Albury and enjoy spending time with family. My husband and I have a caravan and often take off with friends for short trips. There’s so many places around the area where we can take off to in the van only an hour or so down the road.
